Lesson 4 of 4 3D Sequence Illustration

In this lesson, you'll put the final polish on your 3D renders. Nick will go over several post-production techniques like motion blur, color correction, character touchups, set touchups and environment effects. There are many possibilities in this stage, but be careful not to go overboard. A little bit of post-production can go a long way, so take a step back every once in a while to see whether your changes are helping to tell the overall story.

  • Character Touchups

Refine your 3D character renders in Photoshop by painting in any missing details or fixing any model/render issues. Pay close attention to the lighting and readability of your character.

  • Environment Touchups

Refine your set design and paint in any environment details that were not created in 3D. Don't be afraid to alter any aspects of the set that clash with your overall narrative goals.

  • Final Polish

Paint in any additional effects that you feel are needed in your scene, such as smoke, mist, clouds, fire, etc. Once you have these details dialed in, take your illustration to final by adding any post effects like lens distortion, depth of field, lens flares, motion blur, etc.
