Lesson 2 Assignments0 of 3 Assignments Completed
  • Small Element Studies Homework

Create two pages of 2-3 sketches each, one with doors and one with windows. Try to pick different cultures and architectural styles as the inspiration for each sketch.

  • Perspective Sketching Homework

Create a simple sketch to practice one of the perspective concepts Aaron demonstrated in the previous chapters. You can do one of the beginner or advanced styles, but make sure to keep it simple enough that you can finish the sketch.

It’s okay to use digital techniques for this image, if you’re more comfortable practicing that way. There will be a more formal ink sketching assignment at the end of this lesson.

For extra credit, try a few different perspective styles!

  • Invented Architecture Homework

Gather a few reference images, and use those as inspiration to sketch a new building of your own.

This ability to invent architecture is useful even when sketching from life, because creating a sketch always involves simplifying and adapting what you see onto the page. Take your time with this assignment and have fun!
