Lesson 5 in Artistic Portrait Photography

Lesson Information

With preparations completed and equipment chosen, in this lesson, Jingna guide you through the whole process of a shoot from beginning to end. Starting with hair and makeup preparations, to lighting setup, directing your model, and finally also tips on mistakes to avoid and important points to remember.


1. Complete all pre-production and execute photoshoot

2. Choose 3-5 best photos with preliminary colors and contrast processed

3. Write a brief reflection of the shoot and production process


Do look variations for the shoot (ie. makeup, hair, or prop changes) and create a mini-series of 3-5 final images. Shortlist 1-3 images for each look.

Jingna wow, mad knowledge and seasoned experienced dropped in this lesson. You are right on the money with professional attitude and taking ownership. Even as I was writing up the homework I felt myself slipping into excuse making here and there, haha. Good to remember that you used to operate in a cramped NYC apartment!

In my professional work I seek to take total ownership of mistakes, and even though I have fallen short sometimes, whenever I have applied it successfully, it has never steered me wrong.
