Framing the Shot

Lesson 3 in Production Concept Art

Lesson Information

In order to get the most out of your scene, we'll explore the possibilities of creatively framing your shots, and directing the photography of your concepts. Jan will cover his workflow for creating lighting and atmosphere, as well as how to integrate them into your environment. Finally, you'll learn how to apply these various concepts into your building designs for the set of images you produce.

Homework
Assignment

Build a moodboard based on the visual direction you want to take for your compositions and framing. Build an additional moodboard for the environment you want to place your building in - use the Brief Builder to help with that task. Based on your boards, continue to build the immediate exterior area to integrate your structure within. Choose 12 camera angles, compositions, and lighting scenarios.

Extra Credit

Option A: Integrate your building into a completely different environment. Option B: If you followed the extra credit in previous lessons, take your additional building and bring it to a finish by including compositions based on your original research.
