This lesson will establish all the basics you need to get started. Greg will take you through some of his favorite Photoshop techniques, then analyze what makes a great painting. After you've got the basics down, you will gather reference, create thumbnails, and start sketching your image.

Now that you have a basic outline for your painting, it's time to bring that scene to life. Greg will begin by going over several art fundamentals. Everything from value, shape and mood to different aspects of color and lighting will be crucial in this stage. After you've got a handle on these concepts, you will begin to add color to your painting, placing in extra details as you go.
Lesson 3
This lesson will be about adding definition to your painting. First, Greg will go through some of the most important detail-oriented subjects, showing the kinds of surfaces you may encounter and how light plays against them. Then you will navigate your painting's background and foreground, adding things in, removing elements that don't serve the theme, and detailing everything in between.
Lesson 4
Now you will focus on finishing your painting. This will mean something different for every piece of artwork, but take a step back and really see your work so far. Is there anything that needs more definition? Maybe another spot is too distracting. What post-processing will help the painting reach your ultimate vision? The smallest changes happen here, but they often make the biggest difference in the end. Let's get started!
