  • Image Prep Homework

Gather 5-10 strong reference images that can help contribute to your epic landscape. Then create a set of thumbnail sketches representing the image you might want to create.

Aaron sketched his own thumbnails directly onto the page he would later use for his main epic landscape image, but this is not required for the assignment. You can sketch your thumbnails on a separate page.

  • Epic Landscape Homework

It’s time to create your final epic landscape sketch. Use one or more of your thumbnails as inspiration, but don’t worry about sticking to them too closely because you may find new ideas as you go. Take your time and have fun with this one!

  • Final Presentation Homework

Digitize your sketches, either taking photos or scanning the pages. Then use the techniques Aaron demonstrated to ensure the digitized sketches match what they look like on the real page. You can also composite images together, if you want to present multiple separate sketches together in one image.

Take the time to present your work as cleanly and professionally as possible. You put in a lot of hard work to make these sketches, and they deserve to be shown off in the best possible light!
