Planetary Hero Assets
Lesson 7 of 10 Galactic Concept Art
In this lesson, you will create a main hero asset for your next keyframe.
Planning Homework
Analyze the refined sketch for what will become your second keyframe. Create a rough plan for how you want to approach this image. What are the priority areas? What is the color scheme? What should be approached in 3D vs 2D? And finally, which part of the image would be the ‘hero asset’ that you’ll be working on during this lesson? Once you have this plan, gather any reference images needed.
Hero Assets Setup Homework
Model, sculpt, or do any initial setup required for your scene’s hero asset. Your hero asset will be different from what Gabriel is creating, but keep his workflow in mind. Add as much detail as you feel is needed, keeping the keyframe’s camera angle in mind as well. At the end of this assignment, your hero asset should be ready for materials.
Hero Asset Textures and Details Homework
Finish creating your hero asset by adding any further textures and details needed. Don’t forget that more details can be added later in the paintover stage, so it’s fine if you leave some details to be created later in Photoshop.
