While conventional animation may have 12 basic principles, Jorge believes this can be consolidated to only 10 for motion design. Get a firsthand look at each of these 10 Principles of Motion Design, all conveyed through simplistic example animations, before learning the various tools of Adobe After Effects to implement them.

Lesson 2: Homework Assignment

1. Get familiar with After Effects and create a simple 5 second animation in it. Use as many principles as you can, and use more than one property (scale, position, rotation, etc.).

Here is my animation for Lesson 2. Continuing to play with the Learn Squared logo, this time with some After Effects tricks in play.

2. Start gathering ideas for concepts for the short animation we'll start in the next lesson. Write down ideas or quotes you would want to animate.

Seeing Jorge R. Canedo's Christian themed Animations influenced me to also do something Christian so I selected this Bible verse about the Armor of Go d.I could see the parts of the Armor connecting like a super hero suit or something like the parts of Voltron. Chosen quote from the Bible (ESV Translation): Ephesions 6:13-18 - "13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication."

Cool idea! There is a way to create isometric camera inside AE, so that might be a good idea to avoid the perspective there.
