Alien Planet (Lesson 1)

Lesson 1

I always admired artists who could create whole new worlds and give a clear vision of them. And now I am here to learn.
This was my first attempt at
Matte Painting and I am very curious where I will end up at the end of the course.

Alien Planet

I had a ton of ideas even though I usually am more drawn to fantasy. I really wanted to incorporate strangely stacked stones, that seem to work against gravity to create the strange alien planet atmosphere. I also wanted to show how small the character in comparison to the landscape seems as it shows in the sketches. I was not sure about including characters into the two final versions, without them looking weird.
